Southwest Discovery Circuit of Madagascar (12 days)

• The journey begins in Antananarivo, Madagascar's capital. After arriving at the international airport, you will be transferred to your hotel for a rest. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of the capital city, including visits to the Royal Palace (Rova) and the Independence Avenue.

• You will depart Antananarivo and head to Fianarantsoa, a historical city located in the highlands. The drive takes you through beautiful landscapes, passing through Ambositra, the hub of Malagasy craftsmanship. Upon arrival in Fianarantsoa, you will explore the town’s old quarter and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding rice fields.

• Today, you will drive from Fianarantsoa to Ambalavao, a picturesque town surrounded by scenic countryside. Visit the Anja Community Reserve, where you can see the famous ring-tailed lemurs in their natural habitat. You will also visit the local zebu market, where cattle trading takes place in traditional Malagasy style.

• In the morning, you will continue your journey south, driving to Ranohira, the gateway to Isalo National Park, known for its dramatic sandstone formations, deep canyons, and natural pools. After arriving and checking in, enjoy a relaxing evening surrounded by the striking landscapes of the area.

• Spend the entire day exploring Isalo National Park, one of Madagascar’s most famous parks. The park offers stunning views of its vast desert-like landscape, marked by towering sandstone formations. You will trek through the Canyon des Singes (Monkey Canyon) and Canyon des Lémuriens (Lemur Canyon), ending with a refreshing swim in the Piscine Naturelle (Natural Pool).

• Today, you will travel to Ifaty, a coastal village known for its beautiful beaches and the unique spiny forest. On arrival, you can relax on the beach or visit the Reniala Reserve, a protected area home to the iconic baobab trees and various bird species, including the long-tailed ground roller.

• Embark on a morning boat excursion to Nosy Ve Island for snorkeling or diving. The marine reserve is home to vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life, making it a fantastic location for underwater exploration. Afterward, spend the afternoon unwinding on the beach.

In the morning, drive to Tulear, the largest city in the southwest. Upon arrival, you will visit the Arboretum d’Antsokay, a botanical garden that preserves many endemic plant species from the dry southwest region. You will also have time to explore the bustling local markets, where you can find crafts such as spiny forest wood carvings and shell jewelry.

Today, you will drive to Belalanda, a village near the famous Berenty Reserve, which is known for its populations of ring-tailed lemurs and sifakas. Once you check in, you can relax at the lodge or enjoy the serene coastal environment before preparing for your wildlife adventure.

In the morning, you will visit Berenty Reserve, one of the most famous wildlife reserves in Madagascar. A local guide will take you on a tour of the reserve, where you will encounter ring-tailed lemurs, sifakas, and other endemic wildlife. In the afternoon, return to Belalanda for relaxation before the evening.

After breakfast, drive back to Tulear. Depending on the time of arrival, you may have the opportunity to explore more of the city, visiting landmarks such as the Museum of Tulear or enjoying the city’s beaches.

You will fly back from Tulear to Antananarivo, where you will have some free time for last-minute shopping or sightseeing. Afterward, transfer to the airport for your international departure or onward journey.
